What Does ‘Any Spouse’ Mean in an Annuity?

When doing a joint-life annuity, you can choose to have it as ‘any spouse’ which means the spouse’s pension is payable to the member’s spouse at the date of death. This may be different from the spouse at the commencement of the policy.

If you chose to not have ‘any spouse’, the pension is only payable to the member’s spouse at the time the annuity commences.
